Five public places run by one department. A gallery opening, the museum that holds the city's own record, the sculpture everybody photographs, a freedmen's settlement and the ordinary house where American history turned.
Attractions
They do not look alike, and they should not. A gallery opening and a freedmen's settlement are not the same visit. Each place keeps its own colour, photography and voice inside a shell that behaves the same way everywhere, so learning one venue teaches you all five.

Smithsonian Affiliate
Two theaters, five galleries and a sculpture garden on a ten acre campus. Carpenter Hall and the Dupree Theater carry the season, the galleries rotate five shows at a time, and walking in to look at them costs nothing.
Smithsonian Affiliate Irving Archives and Museum
The city's own story, told with the objects that survived it, plus Spark!Lab, a Smithsonian invention space where children build things that mostly work.

Mustangs of Las Colinas
Nine bronze horses at a gallop through the water of Williams Square, the largest equestrian sculpture group of its kind anywhere.

Jackie Townsell Bear Creek Heritage Center
A preserved freedmen's settlement kept as it stood, with historic structures, oral histories and a native plant garden of the species that grew here first.
