Attractions

Five destinations, one department.

They do not look alike, and they should not. A gallery opening and a freedmen's settlement are not the same visit. Each place keeps its own identity inside a shell that behaves the same way everywhere, so learning one venue teaches you all five.

Two theaters, five galleries and a sculpture garden on a ten acre campus. Carpenter Hall and the Dupree Theater carry the season, the galleries rotate five shows at a time, and walking in to look at them costs nothing.

Everything above this line is the pitch. Here is how we would build it.

This demo is not a mockup. It is a working WordPress site with real Irving Arts and Culture content, a live accessibility toolbar, a filtering events calendar and every page in the Exhibit A sitemap already standing up. What follows is the plan behind it.

  1. 01

    Accessibility to WCAG 2.2 AA and Section 508

    Built in rather than retrofitted. The toolbar in the header of this demo is live: text size, high contrast and reduced motion, remembered between pages. Every page is keyboard reachable and every image carries alternative text.

  2. 02

    Task first architecture, Exhibit A intact

    The five primary sections in Exhibit A stay exactly as specified. What changes is the entry point. People arrive wanting tickets, hours, a rental quote or a field trip, and the site starts there instead of with an org chart.

  3. 03

    One events system across five venues

    Categories, recurring dates, venue filtering and external ticket links in a single record. Spectrix keeps the box office and RezGo keeps the timed tours. The website stops being a second place to update.

  4. 04

    Role based editing, and a secure partner area

    Each venue edits its own pages without touching anyone else. The Arts Board, resident companies and grant partners get a private area for documents and agendas. No developer in the loop for daily content.

  5. 05

    Migration audited against the Exhibit A sitemap

    Two properties become one. Every existing URL is mapped, redirected and checked, including the pages currently living on a builder platform. Nothing that is linked today lands on a 404 tomorrow.

  6. 06

    Open source, hosted where you choose

    WordPress, no proprietary lock in, no licence that expires with the contract. Documentation, training and an admin walkthrough recorded for staff who join later.
